Either of those works via Kontakt (Sample Logics VST player that integrates with pro-level software like Sibelius, Finale, or Dorico) to get you the precise sounds you are looking for. It's a bit much to wade through, but this is the thread I starting in Dec. You need to add a virtual sound set (VST), like Virtual Drumline or Rumble. In short the problems I've had seem to stem from Sibelius calling the 7x5 marching band paper size a landscape orientation (can't make it portrait), but the printing process wanting to call it portrait making it very difficult to get it lined up on the paper correctly. I dont bother with trying to print directly onto 5X7 paper, but print onto standard letter size, then cut it to size. You can also reduce the font size for your titles. Try also reducing the staff size on that same menu, that should make your staves small enough to fit on the one page. If you've figured out how to print these parts reliably, I'd really love to hear what process you're using. In Document Setup, you can select the Band size paper, 5X7. I never got a definite answer, but there seem to be quirks in the print drivers, Sibelius, Adobe Acrobat (and many applications I found) that make print to 7x5 paper very difficult. I had to adjust all of these things to really maximize the space on the page for my Marching Band template.

7.1.In addition to adjusting the page and staff margins in Document Setup, you may need to adjust the distance of the Title text in parts from the staff so it doesn't end up off the page, requiring constant manual adjustment. If you want to print 2-up onto Letter-size Portrait, then you will need to enlist the help of Adobe Acrobat or a similar utility: this particular 2-up process cannot be done within Sibelius. You should be able to print onto a printer that handles 5x7 paper size natively.

Then you will be able to tab File->Export->PDF all the parts, and the PDF will have a native paper size of 5x7 landscape. You might then need to manually adjust the flow of music in each part, the system breaks, and page breaks, etc. choose a more appropriate staff size than the default 7mm, say, 4mm. Step 1 is that the score needs formatting for 5x7 landscape.ĭo: tab Parts -> Part Appearance -> All Parts, then: 7.1.3: Any fix for trying to print 5 X 7 Lyre size landscape for parts?

We waste so much time every year trying to hack up and tape together Sibelius-printed parts in order to fit in to their lyre folders. If someone is able to at least write a plug in, I'd be eternaly grateful. We don't all write for orchestras and conceet band only! I would think Sibelius would have fixed this by now, as there are many of us who need this option for our marching band programs, and I've seen it pop up from time to time on the forum. This isn't an issue in the other notation software titles. I would just like the option of being able to print legible parts split up sensibly in order to fit the individual parts into their lyre folders. I don't care if I have to use the school's trusty paper cutter to cut down 8.5X11 sheets once printed, although it would be ideal if I could print two 5X7 pages on one portrait orientation 8.5X11 sheet and then basically cut that in half. I mean, I can print on 5X7, but the staff layout and notation doesn't make sense. I'm writing for marching bands that still use lyres, to at least get through band camp, but I've got no way I know of to be able to print accurately on a 5"H X 7"W (as landscape) page. I've tried every work around I've found in various threads, but it still doesn't fix the issue for me, and is still labor intensive.
